Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the dynamic forward thinking Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team on a permanent basis for 30 hours per week. The successful applicant must have a minimum 2 years post graduate experience as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist or equivalent. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist area of occupational therapy practice and work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high quality and evidence based practice for clients of the CWP Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Services. The successful applicant will offer specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment focusing on perinatal mental health, transition to parenthood and consider the infant and mother-infant relationship. This is a part time 30 hours per week, covering core working hours (9am-5pm) Monday to Friday. Flexible/ job-share / part time arrangements may be considered. The team cover the whole of the CWP footprint and four maternity units across the patch including Arrowe Park Hospital (Wirral), Countess of Chester Hospital (Chester), Leighton Hospital (Crewe) and Macclesfield District & General Hospital (Macclesfield). This post is to caseload hold in the Wirral part of our patch.

The clinical team mainly operate agile working with a weekly meeting held at the base and offer clinics across the patch; therefore ability to travel is necessary for this role. Please download a copy of the job description for full details of the main responsibilities for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment focusing on perinatal mental health, transition to parenthood and the mother-infant relationship.
  • Caseload holding in the Wirral part of the patch; work within an agile team and across clinics across the patch.
  • Travel to various sites as required and participate in weekly team meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health Professions Council. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Evidence of post-registration study.
  • Experience in a mental health setting; two years post-graduate experience as a Band 5 OT or equivalent (desirable).
  • Proactive in the implementation of change; capable of group and individual interventions; experience working with MDTs and service users/carers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPA, assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation; knowledge of National OT strategies and modern practice.
  • Able to communicate effectively with good listening skills; sound knowledge of supervision and appraisal processes; experience in mentorship.
Desirable Criteria
  • Membership of a professional body; qualification in practice placement education; post-registration study in relevant fields (e.g., PSI, CBT); experience of supervision and auditing; experience in training other professionals and students.
  • Experience in research and audit; experience of managing casework and liaison with community agencies (statutory and non-statutory).
