Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist with a Moving and Handling specialism to join our Adult Social Care team in Bristol. This locum role is full-time with hybrid working (37 hours per week), and approximately 2 days per week in the Bristol office, starting 28 September 2026.

You will conduct assessments, manage moving and handling risk, and advise on equipment such as hoists and stand aids, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Substantial experience within Adult Social Care, particularly in moving and handling assessments.
• Understanding of Care Act, MHOR, LOLER, PUWER.
• Recent UK experience as an Occupational Therapist is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments to identify functional needs and suggest interventions.
• Perform moving and handling assessments and risk evaluations for safe care arrangements.
• Recommend and prescribe specialist equipment such as hoists and stand aids.
• Apply relevant legislation and guidelines including Care Act 2014 and Health and Safety at Work.
• Collaborate with service users, carers and professionals to ensure compliance with LOLER and PUWER.
