Are you interested in working in a team that delivers services to support GP practices with Mental Health assessments?

We are recruiting an Occupational Therapistto join the Mental Health Hub andbe part of a developingPrimary Care Mental Health hub to support GP practices with Mental Health assessment and support for patients in their communities.

We are looking for motivated Occupational Therapists who are looking to work in a great team alongside other occupational therapists, nurses and social workers, all of whom are dedicated to improving services for young people. You may be a band 5 ready for the next step in their career, or an experienced band 6 OT who wants to gain exposure in a new area or working outside of the NHS. Either way, we have a career path ready for you.

You will be based within the Buckinghamshire Primary Care Mental Health team, working across the county with a base at either our Aylesbury or High Wycombe site.

Main duties of the job

  • Experience in Mental Health Assessments: Clinicians should have experience in completing mental health assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions in community settings.
  • Passion for Partnership Approaches: Candidates should be passionate about partnership approaches to care for adults living with serious mental illness.
  • Motivated for Training: Individuals should be motivated to engage in training to deliver evidence-based interventions across various therapy modalities, signposting, and psychoeducation.
  • Innovative Mindset: The roles require innovative individuals who can help achieve the vision for cross-sector integrated pathways.
  • Improving Access to Mental Health Support: Clinicians should aim to remove existing barriers to deliver better access to dedicated mental health support in local, non-stigmatised community settings.

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Current professional registration: Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist.
  • Post graduate education specifically relating to client group.

Experience

  • Community experience in mental health services for adults and older age adults with severe / significant mental illness.
  • Experience of facilitating groups
  • Experience of working in primary and secondary mental health services.
  • Experience of delivering psychosocial interventions

Knowledge

  • Specialist knowledge of person-centred care and its application.
  • Specialist knowledge of psychosocial interventions and their appropriate use.
  • Understanding of the mental health needs of adults.
  • Specialist knowledge relating to the needs of those diagnosed with, or with presenting traits of, personality disorder.
