Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a two-month bank post. You will manage a complex caseload across acute and community settings, with specialist assessments, discharge planning and supervision of junior staff.

The role includes rotation every nine months across acute medicine, surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, A&E, frailty and community teams, with opportunities for service improvement and professional development, while maintaining high standards

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration is required.
• At least one year of OT experience in a comparable clinical setting.
• Experience supervising staff and contributing to governance and service improvement.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice, OT assessment techniques and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload across acute and community settings.
• Carry out specialist assessments for adults with complex impairments and develop discharge recommendations.
• Prioritise interventions and coordinate referrals to inpatient and community services.
• Apply advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based techniques in rehabilitation.
• Suggest assistive equipment and minor environmental adaptations.
• Supervise junior staff and carry out appraisals.
• Support training and supervise students on placement.
• Contribute to service improvement through audit and pathway evaluation.
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records to standards.
