Cygnet Oaks is a 35-bed service specialising in high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) for men, providing a multi-disciplinary treatment programme designed to assist individuals with their return to independent living.

Main duties of the job

At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus supported by Clinical Leads and Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within our service lines, with Occupational Therapists playing a key role. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will assess and treat occupational dysfunction under supervision, with opportunities to supervise others and support student education. This role offers learning, development, and research opportunities, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOT's Career Development Framework.

Service Line: Mental Health Adults Rehabilitation (Male)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist for our team at Cygnet Oaks, at Band 5 or Band 6 level depending on experience.

Post: Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist

Salary: £31,317 - £38,122 (Band 5); £39,015 - £46,981 (Band 6), dependent on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract: Fixed-term (12 months, maternity cover)

Start Date: October 2025

About the site:

Cygnet Oaks is a 35-bed high support inpatient rehabilitation service for men, with two wards: The Lodge (20 beds) for initial recovery and stepping down from acute or low secure services, and The House (15 beds) for ongoing care. The Lodge includes a 4-bed step-through service for preparing for community placement.

Our multidisciplinary team offers tailored interventions, including occupational therapy, psychology, and psychiatry, to support service users in stabilizing and reintegrating into society. The occupational therapy department focuses on enabling service users to engage in meaningful activities, develop skills for independence, and improve quality of life through a comprehensive therapy programme.

Located near Barnsley town centre, the service promotes social inclusion through pathways linking care plans with community activities.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Led by our occupational therapy directors, supporting over 150 Occupational Therapists and 300 support staff. We foster a collaborative environment with opportunities for involvement in service development and specialist interest groups.

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction

We provide comprehensive preceptorship and induction programmes, supporting new therapists through their transition into our team.
