Qualifications

Service Line: Female Mental Health Adults (Personality Disorder/Complex Trauma/Neurodiversity)

Summary of the site

Cygnet Alders Clinic is a 20 bed rehabilitation service providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women with a diagnosis of personality disorder and complex trauma needs, based in Gloucestershire. It provides a specialist, psychologically informed, personality disorder pathway, across three living areas:

  • Severn - focuses on assessment and stabilisation;
  • Avon - where service users move as they engage and progress with their treatment pathway
  • Coln - focuses on transitioning to the community.

At Alders we use trauma informed care and treatment, we are at an exciting junction where we are looking at how we can incorporate VdTMoCA into the Occupational Therapy model.

MDT and Team

At Alders we have a substantive multi-disciplinary team (MDT) comprising Psychiatry, Speciality Doctor’s, Nursing, Psychology, Art Psychotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Activity Co-ordinators.

Small caseload, 20 bedded service.

Occupational Therapy Team consists of a Lead Occupational Therapist, an Occupational Therapist & Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service line development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Preceptorship & Induction

We offer a 12 month Occupational Therapy Preceptorship for all newly qualified Occupational Therapists to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy skills.

We also offer a sensory integration preceptorship for those with an interest in sensory integration as well as other therapeutic approaches which are used within this specialism/service line.
