Working Hours: Full-time

Salary: Starting from £31,317 per year, with increases after preceptorship

Site Summary:

Cygnet Oaks is a 35-bed service specializing in high-support inpatient rehabilitation (Level 2) for men, offering a multidisciplinary treatment program designed to support individuals' return to independent living.

Depending on individual needs, Cygnet Oaks provides different levels of support across two wards: the Lodge and the House.

• Lodge: a 20-bed admission ward where most service users begin their recovery journey. Admissions are generally from acute or low secure services.
• House: a 15-bed service for continued care, including a 4-bed step-through service within the Lodge, providing a separate living space to prepare individuals for community placement while still receiving multidisciplinary input.

Our dedicated clinical teams deliver a comprehensive multidisciplinary program, including occupational therapy, psychology, and psychiatry, to help service users stabilize and reintegrate into society with renewed enthusiasm.

Interventions are tailored to individual needs, with the team adapting engagement techniques and personnel to maximize progress.

The occupational therapy department supports service users in engaging in meaningful activities, overcoming barriers, and developing skills for independence. Our program includes self-care, productive, and leisure activities, with interventions evolving through different treatment stages.

Located near Barnsley town center, the service provides easy access to local facilities and promotes social inclusion through pathways linking care plan goals with community activities.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Led by our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and 300 OT support staff, fostering a collaborative environment with opportunities for involvement in service development and specialist interest groups.

Each service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to develop evidence-based practices and occupational therapy pathways.

Our team members are encouraged to participate in service model development, leveraging the expertise of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction

We recognize the challenges posed by the pandemic and offer a 12-month preceptorship program to support and consolidate core occupational therapy skills.
