Job summary

Leonard Cheshire seeks two Assistive Technology specialists to assess, implement and support TEC and AAC solutions for individuals to enhance independence and communication.

You will work from the South East regional hub in Bromley, liaising with care teams, Local Authorities and NHS professionals. Travel across the UK will be required to support clients and training.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering home automation and environmental assistive technologies.
  • Experience with TEC, Speech & Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy environments is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of AAC systems and how to implement communication technologies.
  • Experience researching, assessing, implementing and supporting assistive technology solutions.
  • Ability to explain complex tech concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct person-centred assistive technology assessments.
  • Recommend and implement TEC solutions and review effectiveness.
  • Deliver AAC systems and communication technologies.
  • Support smart home and environmental control tech, including voice devices.
  • Set goals with individuals and adapt solutions as needs change over time.
  • Deliver training to individuals, families, and support staff.

Job description

Location: Ideally based in the South East to cover Bromley up to Hitchin.

We are looking for 2 new members to join our growing Assistive Technology (AT) team; helping people improve their independence, communication and quality of life through innovative assistive technology solutions.

What You'll Do

Based out of our new South East Regional Assistive Technology Hub at our St Cecilia's service in Bromley, you'll work closely with individuals, families, care teams, local authorities, and NHS professionals. You'll assess needs, recommend and implement assistive technology solutions, and provide training and ongoing support. You'll regularly review and adapt technologies to ensure they continue to meet changing needs and help individuals achieve their goals.

  • Conduct person-centred assistive technology assessments.
  • Recommend, implement, and review Technology-Enabled Care (TEC) solutions.
  • Deliver Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and communication technologies.
  • Support the use of smart home and environmental control technologies, including voice-controlled devices.
  • Set goals with individuals and adapt solutions as needs change over time.
  • Deliver training to individuals, families, support staff and colleagues.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and NHS professionals.
  • Provide ongoing support and contribute to assistive technology best practice.
About You

Experience in delivering home automation and environmental Assistive technologies is essential for this role.

  • You will also have:
  • Experience in Technology Enabled Care (TEC), Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or a similar specialist support environment
  • Experience researching, assessing, implementing and supporting assistive technology solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
  • Experience with access methods, mounting solutions and sensory equipment.
  • Ability to assess individual needs and identify appropriate technology solutions.
  • Experience delivering training to end users and support teams.
  • Excellent communication and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
