Occupational Therapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic full-time Occupational Therapist to join our established therapy team and work on our adult acute inpatient wards primarily at the Michael Carlisle Centre, Sheffield S7.

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in this in-patient service as it progresses through a time of development with a physical refurbishment taking place. Several different initiatives will compliment this development such as PIPA (purposeful inpatient admission), sexual safety and Safewards among others.

You will receive regular supervision, have CPD opportunities, join the band 5 support group/network and be able to contribute to the development and progress of this supportive team and working environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work work collaboratively with clients to enable service users in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, work and leisure. This is through undertaking occupational assessments, formulations, care planning, addressing occupational performance and skills acquisition. You will work in a recovery focussed way with individuals and groups, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals which are appropriate to individual's needs and aspirations. You will be a team player, working collaboratively with MDT colleagues and wider services on care plans, service delivery and evaluation. You will also be able to assist with the development of other members of the therapy team.

To undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the client in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.

To work with clients to identify OT goals as part of the overall care plan

To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic gaols

To monitor and evaluate treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention
