Overview

CNTW NHS Foundation Trust – Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time, Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy Team with the Richardson Eating Disorders Service. The Intensive Day Service is a specialist service based at Benfield House, Walkergate Park Hospital, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for eating disorders. The service is for men and women aged 18 and over living in the northern and southern part of the North East of England.

The post involves supporting individuals through their recovery pathway. The Intensive Day Service also offer intensive home based treatments, working in individuals home environments and local communities. This job will involve occupational assessment, intervention and evaluation; using a range of therapeutic modalities including 1:1 and groups.

The band 5 post will support the Band 6 Occupational Therapist in developing the service and identifying new and innovative opportunities for staff and clients.

You will need to be adaptable, resourceful and resilient. Regular support and supervision will be provided by the Band 6 Occupational Therapist and you will have access to in house skills based training and CPD opportunities.

This is a great opportunity for an existing band 5 looking to broaden their experience, or a newly qualified Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job

To provide occupational therapy service to patients who have a variety of occupational therapy needs, as well as a range of mental health conditions, under the supervision of the Specialist Occupational Therapist. To manage and provide ongoing assessment and intervention for service users. To consider carer needs and ensure carer and family are involved in intervention planning where appropriate. To develop and deliver evidenced based Occupational Therapy interventions in collaboration with service users and carers where appropriate. The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence. To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity. To provide clinical supervision to staff members as delegated. To incorporate a client centred philosophy into clinical practice and client centred collaborative care.

Education and Qualification
  • Recognised Occupational Therapy degree qualification
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Commitment to complete fieldwork education training.
  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy
Knowledge and Experience
  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives
