NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting role has opened within the new Argyll & Bute Enhanced Community Dementia Service.

We are looking to recruit a motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our growing service. The service comprises three teams staffed with mental health nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, senior health care support workers, and Alzheimer Scotland post-diagnostic link workers. All teams are an integral part of the Argyll and Bute Enhanced Community Dementia Service and work jointly with Community Health Services, Mental Health, Primary Care, and other agencies including social care.

The service is currently in an exciting period of growth and transformation, aiming to provide locality-based specialist dementia care for pre, peri, and post-diagnostic dementia support.

This is an interesting and exciting opportunity that offers a challenging and rewarding role within the multi-professional dementia team, with supervision and operational oversight provided. The team aims to meet the needs of people living at home and facilitate discharges from inpatient settings. You will have the opportunity to contribute to further service improvements as the new enhanced team develops and feedback is gained.

We are eager to shape and improve the service and the experience of service users, developing a multi-professional approach to maintain meaningful skills for our community patients and facilitate inpatient discharges back into the community.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Health & Care Professionals Council
  • Current driving license (essential)

Relevant placement/work experience in mental health or with older adults.

Competent in assessment, treatment, and discharge planning skills. Delivery of occupational therapy treatment on an individual and/or group basis as required.

Strong communication skills, effective organizational and time management skills.

Ability to help deliver a high standard of service.
