Job Summary

We have an exciting part time opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our Mental Health team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. Ideally a car driver is required due to the prison location.

HMP Wymott has a population of around 1,100 and is varied and complex.

Hours
  • Monday to Friday
  • 18.75 hours per week
  • 8am to 4pm
  • Flexible on working days
Salary

This position is a part time role, you will receive an annual salary between £43,609 and £49,175 per annum FTE, pro rata, depending on experience.

Qualifications
  • Diploma/degree in occupational therapy with current professional qualification (HCPC)
  • Post registration experience and evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential)
Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the provision of occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation.
  • Provide visible and professional support to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and rehabilitation aimed at improving or maintaining independence.
  • Work with a caseload of patients with varying difficulties including complete health and social care needs; respond effectively to the changing needs of the patient caseload, managing the sometimes conflicting priorities of prevention of admission and discharge.
  • You will assess and order equipment as identified by patient need and allocate work to OT assistant or care staff as necessary. Establish communication networks with other team members, patients and other health and social care agencies, attending joint visits with other professionals as required.
