LOCATION: Hybrid working in Midlands or Northwest. Some UK travel to JLR sites, minimal overseas travel. Full and part time will be considered.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Acting as a key member of the Health and Safety team, the Consultant Occupational Physician will provide advice and leadership to various professional groups within the business. You will impact the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees, contractors, supply chain, and the wider community. Your role includes proactive advice on health topics, wellbeing, sickness absence, health surveillance, travel, and safety, supporting all business areas including manufacturing, events, engineering, and Jaguar TCS Racing.

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead as a clinical expert within the UK OH & S department, providing strategic direction and implementing global OH & Wellbeing strategies.
  • Maintain clinical responsibility for:
    • OH process improvement
    • Complex case management and fitness assessments
    • Health surveillance escalations
    • Preparation of medical information for early retirement cases
  • Provide advice following assessments, liaising with other medical professionals as needed. Conduct workplace visits, participate in case conferences, support OH Advisors, and collaborate with safety and wellbeing colleagues.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Strategic and commercial awareness
  • Negotiation and influence skills at senior levels
  • Knowledge of HR practices like absence management and capability
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in IT tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and uphold confidentiality, adhering to GMC principles

Experience

  • Knowledge of UK equality, health and safety laws
  • Understanding of UK employment law
  • Experience in manufacturing environments and unionized settings (desirable)
  • Data management and interpretation experience (desirable)

Qualifications

  • Accredited Specialist in Occupational Medicine with Membership or Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine
  • Full driving license
