Job description

I am looking for an Occupational Health Technician to join my client's expanding peripatetic team. The successful applicant will be required to travel throughout the UK, driving a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to client sites to deliver health surveillance services, and will be based in the Somerset area.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, typically between 8 am and 6 pm. During the initial weeks, the successful candidate will need to use their personal vehicle or a company-provided hire car for transportation. This interim measure will remain until a new company van is provided.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to develop their skills in a supportive environment. The company provides a 4-week Training and Induction Programme, along with ongoing mentoring and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake health surveillance screening, including audiometry, lung function testing, and general baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and urinalysis.
  2. Ensure all medical information is accurately recorded in occupational health records and passed to relevant clinical staff.
  3. Maintain all equipment, ensuring it is clean, serviceable, and fit for purpose.
  4. Support additional tasks as requested, such as health promotion activities.
  5. Assist the wider occupational health team and ensure all information is correctly gathered and recorded.

The screening procedures provide biometric information necessary for clinical decision-making about patient management.

Travel & Overnight Stays:

You must have the facility to park the MMU at or near your home overnight and be comfortable with the travel involved, including regular overnight stays. Typically, you can expect to be away from home about 3 out of 4 weeks each month, but you will be brought home on Fridays for the weekend.

To support work-life balance, the role offers:

  • Diary visibility 6 weeks in advance
  • £30 subsistence for each night away from home
  • Access to a Premier Inn account for booking accommodation
  • Fuel card provision
  • Birthday off (additional holiday)
Salary:

The salary ranges from £25,000 to £27,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Company Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary based on qualifications and experience
  • Contributory pension scheme up to 6%
  • Life assurance
  • Birthday leave
  • Starting with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Cycle to work scheme

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team with excellent benefits.
