Job description

I am seeking an Occupational Health Technician to join my client's expanding peripatetic team. The successful candidate will be required to travel throughout the UK, operating a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to deliver health surveillance services at client sites, primarily based in the Somerset area.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, typically between 8 am and 6 pm. During the initial weeks, the candidate will use their personal vehicle or a company-provided hire car for transportation until a new company van is available.

This opportunity is ideal for an enthusiastic and reliable individual eager to develop their skills in a supportive environment. The role includes a 4-week training and induction program, along with ongoing mentoring and support from the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake health surveillance screening, including audiometry, lung function testing, and baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and urinalysis.
  • Ensure all medical information is accurately recorded in occupational health records and communicated to relevant clinical staff.
  • Maintain all equipment in a serviceable, clean, and fit-for-purpose condition.
  • Support additional tasks as requested, including health promotion activities.
  • Assist the wider occupational health team, ensuring accurate data collection and recording.

The biometric data collected will support clinical decision-making by nursing and physician staff.

Travel & Overnight Stays:

You must have the ability to park the MMU at or near your home overnight and be comfortable with regular travel, including overnight stays. You can expect to be away from home approximately 3 out of 4 weeks each month, with weekends at home.

Work-Life Balance Benefits:
  • Diary visibility 6 weeks in advance
  • £30 subsistence for each night away from home
  • Access to a Premier Inn booking account
  • Issue of a fuel card
  • Birthday leave (additional holiday)
Salary:

The salary ranges from £25,000 to £27,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Company Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary
  • Contributory pension scheme (up to 6%)
  • Life assurance
  • Birthday leave
  • Starting with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Discounted gym membership
