Job description

Occupational Health Technician

I am looking for an Occupational Health Technician to join my client’s expanding peripatetic team.

The successful applicant will be required to travel throughout the UK, driving a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to client sites to deliver health surveillance services. The role is based in the Bristol area.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, usually between 8am and 6pm.

During the initial weeks of employment, the successful candidate will use their personal vehicle or a company-provided hire car for transportation. This interim measure will remain until a new company van can be assigned.

This role offers a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to develop their skills and gain experience in a supportive environment. A 4-week Training and Induction Programme will be provided, along with ongoing mentoring and team support.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake health surveillance screening, including audiometry, lung function testing, and baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, urinalysis.
  2. Ensure all medical information is accurately recorded in occupational health records and relayed to relevant clinical staff.
  3. Maintain all equipment to ensure it is serviceable, clean, and fit for purpose.
  4. Support additional tasks such as health promotion activities as requested.
  5. Assist the wider occupational health team in their duties, ensuring all information is correctly gathered and recorded.
  6. Provide biometric information essential for clinical decision-making by nursing and physician staff during screening procedures.
Travel & Overnight Stays

You must be able to park the MMU at or near your home overnight and be comfortable with regular travel, which includes overnight stays. Typically, you may be away from home around 3 out of 4 weeks per month, but you will be brought home on Fridays for the weekend.

To support a positive work-life balance, you will benefit from:

  • Diary visibility 6 weeks in advance
  • £30 subsistence for each night away from home
  • Access to a Premier Inn booking account
  • Issue of a fuel card
  • Additional holiday: Your Birthday Off
Salary

The salary for this role ranges between £25,000 and £27,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
