The OH department works over North Tyneside and Northumbria to support staff. This means that you will have an identified work base, however needs of the service may mean you need to travel to cover clinics elsewhere, for example, Hexham, Alnwick or Berwick, or provide one-off clinics, for example, staff flu vaccinations for council workers.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be primarily based at North Tyneside General Hospital. The role will include tasks such as health clearance of new staff, vaccinations, and venepuncture. The successful candidate must be able to run their own clinic, managing booked appointments, while also showing flexibility when needed to support drop-ins and urgent assessments.

The role also includes taking part in health promotion activities, working closely with the wider OH team to champion wellbeing strategies. Staff need to be able to refer and signpost to a variety of supportive services, showing resilience in identifying a client's needs in sometimes difficult circumstances. Good IT literacy is required, alongside excellent communication skills.
