Flexible working: we recognise the importance of a healthy work-life balance, which is why we offer flexible working options including part-time, job share and compressed hours. Please note, due to the nature of this role, home working will not be possible.

MI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats. Through our protective security arm, we provide advice and guidance to government, businesses and other organisations about how to keep themselves safe. A role inMI5 means you’ll do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouraging environment, making a real difference to UK national security.

Our Occupational Health team are facing an exciting and transformative period, which means we’re currently looking for someone with extensive experience and expertise to join us as an Occupational Health Head of Profession. You’ll play a crucial role in our organisation, leading the delivery of a cross-agency Occupational Health service – ensuring legal compliance and risk management, while driving the promotion of health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Working with the heads of Safety, Wellbeing and Workplace Adjustments, you’ll ensure the delivery of a professional and joined-up service, while providing clinical governance to the Occupational Health team. You’ll also support and enable continued professional development to ensure core skills and clinical registrations are maintained. This role will require travel across the UK and occasionally overseas. If you’re looking for an equally challenging and rewarding opportunity, this role will give you the chance to have impact on people whose work protects the nation.

We offer a welcoming, inclusive and unique workplace and we’re committed to helping you fulfil your potential. You’ll receive plenty of support, from opportunities to build on your professional qualifications, to access to a number of friendly sports, social, and interest clubs as well as a thriving number of affinity networks championing equity, diversity and inclusion across our organisations.

At MI5 diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including those from groups that are under-represented in our workforce such as women, those from an ethnic minority background, people with disabilities and those from low socio-economic backgrounds.
