Applications are invited to apply for the position of Occupational Health Advisor based at our SARIA Ltd, Doncaster site. This is a full time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The position does involve travel to our other UK sites as required.

As an Occupational Health Advisor your duties and responsibilities will vary based on the Company’s requirements but will include:

  • Carry out timely and effective evidence-based health assessments to provide informative information and analysis of medical concerns / conditions, along with recommendations regarding an employee’s suitability for work.
  • Conduct pre-employment health checks for prospective employees based on the risks specific to their proposed role.
  • Undertake occupational screening / health surveillance in accordance with health and safety legislation and interpret results and advise accordingly.
  • Prepare written reports to review fitness for work, inclusive of the assessment between the individual’s abilities and the job role/tasks.
  • Undertake assessment of, and liaison with absent employees, to ensure an appropriate and timely return to work, including home visits where appropriate.
  • Providing advice and recommendations, such as reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act , including return to work plans, to support the employee whilst in work or returning to work.
  • Proactively develop a wellbeing agenda for the business, in consultation with the Head of HR, to ensure that needs of the workforce are met and to ensure attendance to work is maximised.
  • Work collaboratively with HR and management to provide a quality service that meets the needs of employees and the business.
  • Assist with the development of occupational health, health and safety policies and procedures and the evaluation of these in relation to the business objectives.
  • Provide reports and statistical data on health initiatives.
  • Support with the design and provision of focused health promotion and educational training for employees in line with the Company’s wellbeing initiative.

Requirements

  • Be a Registered General Nurse (post registration).
  • Hold a FOM Diploma in Occupational Health Practice and hold up-to-date CPR / First Aid Certification.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
  • Experience working in a similar role in the private sector, preferably in an industrial / manufacturing setting.
  • Be proficient in conducting health screenings and assessing work environments to implement effective interventions.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have good knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Have a strong ethical conduct and understanding of confidentiality legislation / GDPR.
