Job Advertisement:

Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS), Serco operates across 105 courts and 16 vehicle bases throughout London, East & West England. On average we transport over 21,000 custodies per month and at the core of our service is our Operational Control Centre Team (OCC) working to ensure custodies are transported on time, on schedule and in a safe & secure way.

Working as Planning & Logistics Officer at the OCC in Gloucester is more than just a job, it’s the chance to be a part of something greater; join a work family where you are valued but also the work you do makes a difference every day. In addition to a good sense of job satisfaction, we also offer:

  • £30,070 per annum.
  • Flexible working options available.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Serco benefits including pension match up to 6%, 28 days leave (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Full training provided you’ll complete in-depth training with the opportunity to shadow experienced staff, giving you a real taste of life on the job!
  • Perks including Blue Light cards and further employee discounts across hundreds of high street shops for fashion, hospitality, attractions, holidays, electronics and gaming supplies and much more.
  • Access to career long learning and development opportunities.
  • The chance to make a positive difference in a company passionate about diversity and inclusion.

We not only offer job stability & job security, but career development pathways for you to transition into Supervisory or Operational Management level roles. The centre is open 24/6 and whilst you’ll cover various shift patterns (which will include Nights & Weekends), we do operate on a rota basis that allows you the flexibility to enjoy meaningful time off to do the things you love.

What you’ll do day to day:

Firstly, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of the PECS Plan, which means you’ll ensure that the schedule for the movement of custodies is delivered. You’ll work closely with our crews & establishments (Prisons, Courts etc) to ensure custodies are transported on time and in a safe & secure manner. Combining data sources such as court & prison locations, crew routes & trackers, crew resources etc., and further working with crews and establishments, you’ll then produce robust schedules to ensure the safe, secure and timely return of custodies to their destination! It doesn’t always run smoothly though, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet to adapt to any unpredictable changes and deal with any incidents or challenges that occur throughout the day!

What you need to do the role:

If you are detail oriented, highly organised, resilient with exceptional communication skills, then we want to hear from you! Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in a similar role, when you have been involved in organising large scale logistics / scheduling plans in a large geographical area! You’ll be computer literate with the ability to quickly assimilate large volumes of data/information. Experience is not essential as we will provide full training, however if you do have experience in a similar role, it would be highly beneficial.

What else do you need to know?

  • This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
  • You will be required to obtain Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Vetting & Enhanced DBS with Child Barring.
