This role involves identifying obsolete or at-risk parts, evaluating alternatives, and supporting engineering and supply chain teams to ensure continuity of production and service.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess the lifecycle status of components and materials used in products and systems.
  • Identify and track obsolescence risks
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to evaluate and qualify alternative parts or redesign options.
  • Interface with suppliers and manufacturers to gather lifecycle data and availability forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain obsolescence mitigation plans and strategies for critical systems.
  • Support procurement and supply chain teams in sourcing alternatives and managing last-time buys.
  • Maintain accurate records of obsolescence status, risk assessments, and resolution actions.
  • Provide technical guidance during product upgrades, retrofits, and sustainment programs.
  • Contribute to cross-functional reviews and product lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Coordinating with colleagues in the UK, France, Germany, USA and India with regards to general procedures and guidelines.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience in obsolescence management, component engineering, or product lifecycle support.
  • Familiarity with BOM management tools and obsolescence databases.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, mechanical components, and supplier ecosystems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
