Job summary

Fuse Energy is hiring an O&M Technician to perform planned and corrective maintenance across Solar PV and BESS sites. You’ll be based on site, acting as a key point of contact for operational matters, and report to the Operations and Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

We’re hiring an O&M Technician to carry out planned and corrective maintenance across our Solar PV and BESS sites.

You’ll be based on site day to day and act as a key point of contact for operational matters as they come up, working closely with subcontractors, landowners and clients where needed. You’ll bring hands-on experience in solar PV, BESS or electrical maintenance, and you’ll report into the Operations and Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

Planned and Corrective Maintenance

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across Solar PV and BESS sites
• Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems
• Complete routine servicing in line with maintenance schedules and manufacturer requirements
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and to company standards

Fault-Finding and Performance Monitoring

• Conduct site inspections, testing and diagnostic fault-finding
• Identify and resolve equipment issues affecting performance or availability, including underperforming PV arrays, inverters and BESS systems
• Support rapid response to site breakdowns and system failures
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineering or operations teams where required
• Identify recurring issues and feed them back into the maintenance strategy to reduce downtime and improve reliability

Commissioning and Project Handover

• Support commissioning activities on newly constructed Solar PV and BESS projects
• Assist with site inspections, testing and energisation during handover
• Help ensure assets are installed, tested and operating in line with design and specification requirements

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Carry out all work in line with HSE procedures, RAMS and company safety standards
• Always follow safe working practices on high-voltage and construction sites
• Support site compliance with contractual, regulatory and operational requirements
• Report hazards, incidents and near misses in line with company processes

Reporting and Documentation

• Complete maintenance reports, service records and job documentation accurately and on time
• Record site activities, findings and corrective actions clearly and consistently
• Support accurate tracking of maintenance history and asset condition

Stakeholder and Contractor Coordination

• Coordinate with subcontractors and external service providers when required
• Maintain good communication with site teams, internal stakeholders and project personnel
• Support interaction with landowners and clients during site activities where necessary

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience working within Solar PV, BESS, electrical maintenance or a similar technical environment
• Electrical qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent are preferred
• Basic understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear and monitoring systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics
• Familiarity with health and safety standards and safe systems of work, including [HV authorisation / competency requirement, confirm with HSE]
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
• Previous experience in renewable energy or utility-scale infrastructure is desirable but not essential
