Job summary

JERA Nex bp, headquartered in London, is a 50:50 joint venture between JERA Co. and bp, building offshore wind projects globally. We seek an O&M Readiness Engineer to define and optimize O&M strategies for future projects and to support tender efforts with technical and commercial analysis.

You will collaborate with the O&M readiness team, travel as needed across Europe and beyond, and help translate R&D results into practical, scalable O&M solutions while maintaining a safety‑first mindset.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Civil/Construction/Mechanical/Marine Engineering.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define O&M strategies and targets for efficient setups on new projects within 3–5 years.
• Propose improvements to ensure asset sustainability and advise O&M colleagues and the wider organization.
• Support business development and tender projects with technical and commercial analysis.
• Engage with O&M supply chain from market contact to final contract.
• Lead in identifying viable R&D opportunities and translate them to O&M solutions.
• Analyze factors driving success or failure to manage risk profiles for the company.
• Contribute to internal education and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Identify collaborations and partnerships for long‑term growth and ensure successful implementation.

Why this role matters

To reinforce the Operations & Maintenance team, we are looking for an O&M Readiness Engineer. Within the team, you will take up a critical role to define and improve the wider O&M strategies and organizational models on our operational and future offshore wind farm projects and make the organization ready to implement and perfect them.

In this role you will

Together with the O&M Team members you are responsible to:

• Define O&M strategies and targets as to allow JERA Nex bp to implement the most efficient O&M set-up in new projects in the 3 to 5 years horizon.
• Trigger O&M strategy & improvement proposals to ensure the sustainability and durability of the current assets and projects, advising technical solutions towards the O&M colleagues as well as the wider JERA Nex bp organization.
• Support our business development Team and tender projects with technical & commercial analysis to point them in the right direction given the developing O&M Support market as well as local needs and constraints.
• Be an active partner in discussions with the O&M supply chain starting from market contact to final contract.
• Assist in JERA Nex bp`s mission to grow by cooperating in current and new R&D projects to determine how they can be translated to the business model of the O&M organization. Take the lead in detecting new opportunities, assure careful recommendation of viable projects to the management and where relevant bring them to implementation.
• Find insights in the success and fail factors of the specific strategy factors in order to determine the risk profile for JERA Nex bp.
• Be an active partner in the internal educational and knowledge sharing process.
• Identify possible collaborations and partnerships in view of the longer-term growth of JERA Nex bp. Assist with the careful analysis of such partnerships and assure successful implementation of chosen initiatives.

Flexibility (in both ways) will be a part of your function; you will need to maintain your trainings and competencies to occasionally work offshore. Travel in Belgium, UK and further abroad will be expected in support of your tasks. You will be embedded in the O&M Readiness team under the responsibility of the O&M Readiness Manager.

To be successful in the role you will bring

• Experience in the offshore wind industry, with a knowledge interest spanning the full scope of offshore operations (production, maintenance, logistics, networking & communications); offshore wind O&M experience and knowledge of O&M service contracts is a plus;
• Master’s Degree or equivalent through experience in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil/Construction/Mechanical/Marine Engineering);
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken), knowledge of Dutch is a plus;
• Team player with excellent communication skills;
• Diligent and capable of working autonomously;
• Analytical mindset with interest in tools and support systems;
• Pro‑active, hands‑on and solution‑oriented attitude;
• Safety mindset with awareness towards Quality and HSSE legislation;
