Job description

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd.

To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

We are looking for an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Modelling Analyst/ Developer to join RWE's Offshore Operations team, helping to shape O&M strategies for major offshore wind projects globally. As one of the world's leading offshore wind developers and operators, RWE offers the opportunity to work on some of the industry's most innovative and technically complex renewable energy projects. In this role, you will contribute directly to the development and optimisation of offshore wind projects, influencing investment decisions and long-term operational strategies.

You will work alongside industry-leading experts, gain exposure to cutting-edge modelling techniques, and develop an understanding of the commercial decision-making processes that underpin large-scale renewable energy investments. The role combines technical and commercial aspects and would suit someone who enjoys both developing models and applying them to support business-critical decisions.

About the role
  • You will join a small, collaborative team that is recognised across the business for delivering high-quality modelling and analytical support to RWE's growing offshore wind portfolio.
  • You will initially learn and enhance the team's in-house modelling tools before then leading modelling activities that support project development and operational decision-making.
  • In supporting projects, you will perform detailed logistics, cost and risk modelling across a range of scenarios and prepare availability and cost submissions in support of project business cases.
  • As your expertise grows, you will help train colleagues outside the modelling team in the use of the modelling tools, and provide guidance and support where required.
Job requirements and experience
  • Relevant degree-level qualification, preferably in a computer science, engineering, economics or a similarly analytical discipline.
  • Strong Python development skills, with experience of writing maintainable, well-structured code for analytical or operational applications.
  • Experience with other modelling tools and technologies, including Excel, VBA andHTML.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail, and a natural curiosity to understand the drivers behind results and performance changes.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and provide constructive challenge in a collaborative and respectful way.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present information in a clear and concise way to stakeholders.
  • Experience working with complex cost or financial models would be beneficial.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Sustainable Energy or Wind Energy Systems would be an advantage.
Advantageous, but not essential
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services would be advantageous.
  • Previous offshore wind experience is not required, and we recognise that candidates may not meet every requirement listed above.

RWE is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment – we value your passion, your willingness to learn and your desire to thrive. Even if you don't have all the above skills, need flexible working arrangements or other adjustments not yet listed here, we'd love to hear from you.

We value diversity and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of gender, disability, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, age, sexual orientation, and identity.

Your benefits
  • Exposure to global offshore wind projects and investment decisions.
  • Opportunities to work alongside industry-leading technical specialists.
  • Experience developing and enhancing sophisticated modelling tools.
  • Regular engagement with senior operational and commercial stakeholders.
  • The chance to contribute directly to the energy transition.

We offer a flexible hybrid working model, with offices in Swindon, London and Coventry. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the office at least three days per week, including a minimum of one day in the Swindon office.

All applicants must have a permanent right to work in the UK.
