Job summary

Lightsource bp is seeking a Field Service Engineer to help manage the Ground Maintenance department and support O&M projects across the UK. You will coordinate field jobs, quotations, and purchase orders while ensuring safety and timely delivery of maintenance activities.

Ideal candidates will multi-task effectively, communicate clearly, and maintain strong organisational standards across multiple systems. A proactive, detail-oriented approach is essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and engage with the remote field team to create field jobs, quotations, and purchase orders via calls, emails, and messaging.
• Support safe delivery of grounds maintenance activities across UK regions.
• Delegate tasks and ensure teams have required materials for each task.
• Book and track training, travel, and project timelines; monitor task progress in internal systems.
• Chase missing field reports to ensure weekly closure and accuracy.
• Record minutes and actions from weekly updates; report progress to managers.
• Track departmental KPI progress and update matrices for leadership.
• Assist fleet management: service checks, vehicle movement, and equipment logistics across the UK.
• Arrange and dispatch deliveries for the team and coordinate external training.

Purpose of the role

Assistance in administrative tasks for the Ground Maintenance department. Supporting the efforts of a variety of projects undertaken by internal and external personnel; ensuring all works are completed in a timely, professional, and safe manner.

Duties and responsibilities

• Effective communication and engagement with the remote field team at all times, including creation of field jobs, quotations, purchase orders etc. via team calls, emails and messaging systems.
• Assisting the safe delivery of planned and reactive grounds maintenance activities across multiple UK regions.
• Delegating of tasks to appropriate team members, ensuring they have all required materials for the task.
• Booking and tracking of personnel training, hotel bookings and project timeframes. Tracking all tasks from start to completion, managing our internal computer systems as tasks progress.
• Assisting with the target of zero missing reports for the department on a weekly basis, chasing down the field report for closure if necessary.
• Monitor and modify weekly team update presentation. Taking minutes and actioning where required.
• Monitoring weekly progress of departmental KPI’s – updating matrix ahead of management communications.
• Assistance with ground maintenance fleet management, tracking vehicle servicing, haulage and movement of large-scale agricultural machinery around the UK.
• Assisting and dispatching of deliveries for the team.
• Booking in and tracking of external training for the department.
