Job summary

NUVIA in Birchwood Park, Warrington is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to deliver discipline design and engineering deliverables in a highly regulated environment. The role is permanent with hybrid working arrangements and reports to Senior/Principal Engineer.

You will develop designs, produce deliverables, check and author basic calculations, and participate in design and safety reviews, prepare specs, risk assessments and installation method statements, ensuring quality and timely

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fundamental structural engineering principles.
• Experience in design within a highly regulated industry.
• Proven track record delivering design solutions.
• Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations.
• Experience in a project environment.

Civil Structural Engineer

Permanent // Hybrid position

Birchwood Park, Warrington

Purpose of the job

The Engineer is key in providing a design engineering service. The Engineer is responsible for the production of discipline specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project.

Reports to

Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer.

Key Accountabilities

• Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification.
• Production of design deliverables throughout the design process.
• Checking and authoring of basic design calculations.
• Contribution to design and safety reviews.
• Preparation of technical specifications, risk assessments and installation method statements.
• Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process.

Occupational Skills And Knowledge

• Degree qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline or demonstrable experience.
• Associate membership of a discipline specific engineering institution.

Essential Duties and Requirements

• Knowledge and understanding of the fundamental structural engineering principles.
• Previous experience in the role of design in highly regulated industry.
• Demonstrable successfully delivering design solutions.
• Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations.
• Proven track record within a project environment.
• Self‑motivation with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Good commercial awareness.

Desirable

• Degree Qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline.
• Able and motivated to work towards, or already have, Incorporated and/or Chartered status with the IStructE or ICE.
• Experience in the nuclear industry.
• Management of design teams in the technical delivery of projects.
• Management of sub‑contractors.
• A full UK driving licence.
