Job summary

NUVIA invites applications for a Civil Structural Engineer at our Warrington site. This permanent, hybrid role focuses on design engineering for critical programmes across nuclear, defence and energy sectors.

You will produce discipline designs, support safety reviews, and ensure timely, compliant documentation while contributing to flagship national projects. A degree in engineering and Chartered status are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline.
• Experience in design within a highly regulated industry.
• Understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations.
• Proven track record delivering design solutions in a project environment.
• Self-motivated with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Good commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide design engineering services within the discipline.
• Produce discipline-specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project.
• Report to Senior or Principal Engineer.
• Develop designs to satisfy technical specifications and deliverables.
• Check and author basic design calculations; contribute to design and safety reviews.
• Prepare technical specifications, risk assessments and installation method statements.
• Ensure quality and timely delivery of design documentation across all design phases; comply with safety regulations; develop cost-effective technical solutions.

The Engineer is responsible for the production of discipline specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project. Reports to Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer. Key Accountabilities Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification. Production of design deliverables throughout the design process.Checking and authoring of basic design calculations. Contribution to design and safety reviews.Preparation of technical specifications, risk assessments and installation method statements. Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process,Compliance with safety and statutory regulations, Develop cost effective technical solutions. Occupational Skills and Knowledge Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience, Associate membership of a discipline specific engineering institution. Duties and Requirements Essential Knowledge and understanding of the fundamental structural engineering principles.Previous experience in the role of design in highly regulated industry,Demonstrable successfully delivering design solutions. Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations.Proven track record within a project environment. Self-motivation with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.Good commercial awareness. Desirable Degree Qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline.Able and motivated to work towards, or already have, Incorporated and/or Chartered status with the IStructE or ICE.Experience in the nuclear industry.Management of design teams in the technical delivery of projects.Management of sub-contractors.A full UK driving licence Nuvia
