Job summary

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust in Bury is seeking a Nurse Associate to join the Early Intervention Team. The post involves performing physical health checks, supporting patients in the community and in their homes, and coordinating care with the psychiatric team.

This is a permanent full-time role (37.5 hours/week) at NHS AfC Band 4 with a salary of £28,392–£31,157 per year. An NMC-registered Nurse Associate with a Foundation degree is required.

Qualifications

  • NMC registered Nurse Associate with Foundation degree.
  • GCSEs Maths and English at required levels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical health checks for patients in Early Intervention.
  • Administer depot medication and monitor blood pressure, pulse, venepuncture and ECG.
  • Work in clinic and in patients' homes, coordinating with the psychiatry team.

The post holder will work primarily with the Early Intervention team 4 days a week completing physical health checks but work with the Bury Treatment team for 1 day a week doing Depot injections and working in Clozapine clinics.

Main duties of the job

Performing Physical health checks for patients open to the Early Intervention service working closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist and Team manager along with care coordinators for the client group. The post is both clinic based in the community and in patients own homes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work as a Nurse associate in the community with the Early Intervention team and Treatment / Physical health teams.

To perform physical health checks including BP monitoring, Pulse, venepuncture, ECG and administering depot medication.

Person specification
Education / Qualifications
  • NMC registered Nurse Associate with Foundation degree
  • GCSE's Grade c or above in Maths and English language / New GCSE grade 4-9 in Maths and English language
Experience
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi disciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs seeking advice where appropriate
  • Experience of working within an Early intervention service
Knowledge
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing associate and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
  • In depth knowledge of Psychotropic medication , it's use and side effects and the need for the physical health monitoring around this.
Skills and abilities
  • Experience of undertaking physical health checks for patients and recording results appropriately
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload
  • Ability to deal with routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with patients, their families, carers and colleagues
  • Have effective time management skills and the ability to prioritise
Work related circumstances
  • Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
  • Capacity to work with colleagues at all levels
  • Positive approach to work and excellent work ethics
