Role: Nursing Associate

We have highly rewarding opportunities to join our multidisciplinary inpatient team. We are seeking motivated individuals with a passion for older adult mental health and a commitment in providing high quality care.

The team at Newhaven are friendly, supportive and exceptionally caring, putting patient care at the heart of the work we do to improve health care outcomes and service delivery.

We can offer a full-time 12 month fixed term position. Our working patterns are 3-4 long days/nights (07:30-20:00/19:30-08:00) across a four-week period including weekends and bank holidays.

This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for a specific purpose that we anticipate will be required for 12 months. We reserve the right to end this contract sooner with appropriate notice.

Main duties of the job

Role Requirements

  • We welcome newly qualified Nurse Associates and experienced Nurse Associates
  • The ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels
  • An enthusiastic, motivated and innovative thinker to become part of the Older Adult inpatient service
  • The ability to work autonomously, managing your own named patients, evaluating a plan of care
  • The ability to problem solve, delegate, co-ordinate and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills along with a flexible and responsive approach

Day to Day elements

Close working with all members of the Multi-disciplinary Team

Undertaking mental health needs assessments

Assessment and Management of risk

Liaising with other services such as community mental health team, Hospital at Home Team, Mental Health Liaison Team and the Acute Trust

Effective assessment through SBAR and care planning

Supervising junior staff, including students

Knowledge
  • NMC Code of Conduct

  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
  • Able to assess, plan, and evaluate programmes of care

Qualifications
  • NMC Nursing Associate registration
  • GCSE English (grade A-C) or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths (grade A-C) or equivalent
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer
Experience
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in prioritising own workload
  • Experience in working without direct supervision
