Nursing Assistant or Will-Train/Trainee, Med Surg

Job Responsibilities
  • Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Identify and locate needed accessories to facilitate transport.
  • Answer call lights and answer the telephone.
  • Make beds, both empty and occupied.
  • Set up all equipment routinely used on home base units.
  • Prepare rooms for admission and assist with patient discharges.
  • Remove linens and ensure proper sanitation.
  • Wear facility-provided identification badges at all times.
  • Provide service excellence to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Facilitate communication with RNs to ensure the best patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Additional Duties for Nursing Assistants
  • Transport patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Measure vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and collect non-invasive specimens.
  • Assist with turning, positioning, ambulation, and toileting.
  • Assist with ADLs and complete patient care as needed.
  • Set up and assist with use of medical equipment, including commodes, bedpans, and walkers.
  • Manage drainage devices and perform postmortem care.
Patient Care Tech Responsibilities
  • Take and record vital signs, dress wounds, administer medications, and perform procedures like suctioning and phlebotomy.
  • Collect samples for testing and perform routine lab tests.
  • Assist with feeding, bathing, and mobility.
  • Ensure infection control standards are followed.
Position Details

64PP (32 hours/week), rotating days, 7 AM - 3 PM, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant certifications such as BLS, CNA, or equivalent experience.
Training Programs
  • Nursing Assistant Trainee (Apprenticeship): includes classroom and on-the-job training, must complete within 6 months.
  • Will-Train Program: includes classroom and on-the-job training, successful completion required.
