Job description
Nursing Assistant - Apprenticeship Opportunity

The closing date is 29 October 2025

If you excel at motivating and caring for others, we are offering exciting opportunities to join one of our teams within adult mental health inpatient services here in Doncaster.

Applicants must be able to evidence previous care experience, preferably within a mental health setting, be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service, be able to communicate effectively and positively contribute to our strong team ethos. You will also need to have the physical fitness required to prevent and manage challenging behaviour.

If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role.

As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work‑related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know‑how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate people, who have the skills and incentive to work alongside our patients on the mental health inpatient wards located on the Tickhill Road Hospital Site in Balby.

We provide specialist assessment and treatment services for adults of all ages experiencing an acute phase of their illness, often while detained under the Mental Health Act.

You will complete assigned tasks involving direct patient care, in support of and under the supervision of a registered nurse, working as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team, undertaking activities and duties which contribute to meeting the physical, psychological and personal needs of individual patients, ensuring that a high standard of care is achieved and maintained at all times.
