Job summary

Qualifications

Supply Hive Wales is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Nursery Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcomingnursery in the heart of Cardiff beginning in the new academic year (2025/2026).This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting the early development of young children in a nurturing and play-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the early years practitioners in delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities
  • Assist with the daily routines including snack time, toileting, and settling in
  • Create a safe, caring, and fun environment for all children
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Work closely with individual children and small groups to support learning through play
  • Help monitor and record children’s progress and development
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents to support children’s needs
Requirements
  • Experience working with young children (nursery, early years, or childcare setting preferred)
  • A kind, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and use initiative when needed
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years is desirable but not essential
