Job description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Room Leader to join an excellent nursery based in Reading. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education with either a level 2 or 3 qualification or equivalent and a genuine love for working with young children. This role involves leading the team of Nursery Practitioners, managing the room, creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the development of children in the nursery setting. As a Nursery Room Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide high-quality care for children aged 0-5 years, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
  2. Support and supervise playroom staff with their day-to-day duties.
  3. Plan and implement engaging educational activities that promote early childhood development.
  4. Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms.
  5. Implementation of the nursery key carer procedures and allocate children to key carers appropriately.
  6. Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children to explore and learn.
  7. Ensure the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  8. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
  9. Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive team approach to childcare.
  10. Manage daily routines, including mealtimes, nap times, and play activities.
  11. Observe and assess children's development, documenting progress as required.
  12. Drive initiatives that promote leadership within the nursery setting.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
  1. Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
  2. Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  3. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  4. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Preferred:
  1. Experience working in a childcare setting.
  2. Paediatric First Aid certification.
  3. Understanding of child-led learning approaches.
