Job description

Madisons are currently recruiting for a Nursery Production Manager to get started on a permanent basis for a client of ours based local to West Byfleet.

Candidates must drive for this role due to the location – Inaccessible on public transport

Duties:

  • To oversee the day to day running of the nursery production and stock control functions.
  • To ensure timely, accurate and efficient completion of production tasks.
  • To identify areas of inefficiency and work with the rest of the management team to put in place improved procedures.
  • To identify strengths and weaknesses amongst the office ad production team and to train and motivate to achieve the required standards of performance.
  • Manage the production team to lead their workload, preparing worksheets for stock control and production teams and keeping the work board updated,
  • Producing weekly potting plans and monitoring the quality and timeliness of completion.
  • Preparing an annual Production plan and liaising with suppliers and the propagator to ensure that all young plant material is available on a timely basis.
  • Monitoring crops ensuring P&D issues are identified and crops are moved to a saleable state on a timely basis.
  • Manage rotation of stock and space to facilitate efficiency of potting tasks.
  • Routinely assessing effectiveness of the irrigation systems.
  • Using softwares to inform the production schedules, raise purchase orders and manage stock numbers and locations.
