A vibrant nursery school in Stanley is seeking an Enhanced Nursery Practitioner to support early childhood development. The role involves caring for children aged 2-4, working closely with parents and staff to ensure a nurturing environment. We are a vibrant, nurturing nursery school with an excellent reputation within our community, dedicated to providing the best early years education for children aged 2-4 years. Our team is passionate about early childhood development and committed to supporting each child's unique journey.
Our supportive governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Early Years Practitioner to join our dedicated team in September 2025. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the daily care and development of children, working closely with parents and other staff to ensure each child feels valued and encouraged in their growth.
Successful Applicants should:
• Hold a minimum of a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years Qualification (or above), in line with the EYFS statutory requirements
• Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, how to plan effectively for children and be ambitious in your practice
• Have a passion for working with young children, especially two year olds and a deep understanding of child development.
• Be eager to make an impact on, and difference to, the lives of children from all backgrounds
• Be committed to keeping children safeguarded and provide a safe environment
• Know how to build excellent partnerships with parents and carers to meet the needs of each individual child
• Have excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills
• Be able to use ICT effectively
• Be flexible
• Be able to work as part of a team and use their own initiative
• Demonstrate resilience and suggest solutions to problems
• Have recent experience working in a nursery or early years environment
• Demonstrating an understanding of and taking responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English
• Have exceptional communication skills, able to communicate effectively with all staff, children, parents and carers and other professionals
• Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people e.g. staff, children, Governors, parents and the wider community
• Be able to work well as part of a team, and use their own initiative.
• Have Paediatric First Aid certificate (desirable).
• Knowledge of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
• Have experience of supporting children with additional needs
• Be flexible and be willing to take part fully in the life of the school
• Be willing to attend training relevant to the post

Calculation of term time only plus two weeks’ pay
Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
