Job summary

Oakwood Primary Academy in Eastbourne is seeking a qualified Nursery Practitioner for a 10-hour/week, term-time role. Work hours are 11:30am–1:30pm, with flexibility for extra hours (mainly Mondays).

You will create a safe, nurturing learning space, support children’s needs, and collaborate with a committed team to promote wellbeing and development.

Qualifications

• Full and relevant Level 2 Early Years qualification essential.
• Paediatric First Aid certificate desirable, willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Support lunch time provision and learning through play.

Job description

Oakwood Primary Academy is looking to recruit a qualified, enthusiastic and caring Nursery Practitioner to join our friendly team. This is a 10-hour per week role, working Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 1.30pm, with flexible opportunities for further working hours (mainly on Mondays). This role will be on a fixed-term, part-time, term-time only basis, to fit with the smooth running of our nursery day.

As a nursery practitioner, you will help to provide a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where our children can learn, play, and develop. You will support children with their individual needs, encourage positive relationships and work closely with colleagues to ensure every child feels happy, valued and supported. This particular role will be integral to happy fulfilling lunch time provision and learning through play opportunities too.

Qualifications

A full and relevant Level 2 Early Years qualification essential

Paediatric First Aid Certificate desirable

Or a willingness to complete

Ability to create and maintain high-quality and accurate records essential

Ability to organise fun and stimulating activities essential

Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the nursery and school team essential

Ability to consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies essential

Experience

Previous experience in a similar role essential

Experience of establishing positive relationships with children essential

Experience of working in a team

Experience of working successfully as part of a team essential

Experience/Knowledge

Working knowledge of legislation relevant to working with young children essential

Demonstrable understanding of children's development essential

Demonstrable understanding of the Early Year's Foundation Stage essential

Qualifications

First aid trained, or willingness to become so
