Overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner to work with children as a Nursery Practitioner.
Hours and Positions
Part-Time: Guaranteed 20 hours and more
Full Time: Guaranteed 35/40 hours
(Hours and rate will vary based on experience and performance within the nursery)
Requirements
- You must hold a minimum Level 3 in childcare or play work.
- The candidate will have experience working in a busy day nursery and being a key worker to groups of children.
About Kingston Day Nursery
Kingston Day Nursery is an exciting Early Years setting in Kingston Upon Hull. Opening in August 1995, the nursery will provide high-quality care and education for children aged from birth to five years. It will operate weekdays, 8:00 am – 17:00 all year round, excluding bank holidays and staff inset days. Kingston Day Nursery supports the local community. Our staff are highly motivated, committed and compassionate professionals who work effectively as a team to provide an exceptional level of care informed by a community ethos.
The Post
- The Nursery Practitioner is a qualified professional, with significant childcare experience, who works in partnership with the nursery manager to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
- A DBS check is required by Ofsted before any appointment can be confirmed.
- The hours of work will be between 8:00 am – 17:00, Monday to Friday on a shift rota basis. However, for the right client, we are flexible, and this could be term time only or core hours.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To create an environment that provides for the well-being of all the children attending the nursery.
- To communicate effectively with all customers, including internal teams, parents/carers children.
- To attend training courses and network meetings, taking on additional responsibilities relating to the operation of the nursery, when required.
- To ensure that the children's health, safety and welfare are held to be paramount at all times. To includes taking responsibility for dealing with any child protection issues, in liaison with the appropriate agencies.
- To cover duties in the absence of staff and take responsibility for a room.
- To be aware of the high-profile status of Kingston Day Nursery and to uphold its standards at all times.
- Attend out-of-working-hours activities, including training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings and special events.
- To be a good role model to the children and other staff members.
- To respect and value all colleagues, children and parents, encouraging a positive and diverse working environment.
- To undertake any other aspects of the nursery, work according to need.

Contract, Salary and Schedule
- Job Type: Full-time/Part Time
- Salary: £10.50 to £11.50 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
