Job Title: Nursery Manager and Assistant Nursery Manager

Location: Carmena Christian Day Nursery, 47 Thrale Road, Streatham, London SW16 1NT

About Us:

Carmena Christian Day Nursery has been a cornerstone of early childhood education in Streatham for over 35 years. Guided by Christian principles, we provide a nurturing environment where children aged 6 months to 5 years are encouraged to grow, learn, and develop. Our recent Ofsted inspection rated us as 'Good', highlighting our commitment to high standards in care and education.

Position Overview:

We are seeking two dedicated professionals to join our leadership team:

  1. Nursery Manager - To lead and oversee the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care and education.
  2. Assistant Nursery Manager - To support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery and to take on leadership responsibilities in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

For both positions:

  • Ensure the nursery operates in compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and Ofsted requirements.
  • Lead and manage a team of early years practitioners, providing guidance and support.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes children's learning and development.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Monitor and assess children's progress, ensuring individual needs are met.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.

Additional responsibilities for the Nursery Manager:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, including staffing, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is stimulating, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Lead the nursery team in continuous professional development and performance management.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including Ofsted and local authorities.

Additional responsibilities for the Assistant Nursery Manager:

  • Support the Nursery Manager in all aspects of nursery management.
  • Take on leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.
  • For the Nursery Manager position, a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within an early years setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and Ofsted standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
