The role of the Nursery Manager

The Nursery Manager is the welcoming face and the forefront of the nursery.

You will be responsible for organising a busy and innovative nursery for 25 children and 4-5 staff members, working collaboratively with other Leaders to ensure smooth operation of this Reggio Emilia-inspired setting.

The core of this role involves supporting staff to ensure excellent practice with children, implementing the latest researched practices in behaviour management, personal care, hygiene, and child-led learning. The Manager will oversee activity and resource arrangements, as well as the development of projects and documentation, reporting to the Managing Director through regular reflection meetings.

The Manager should demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the Reggio Emilia Approach, supporting and training staff on the nursery floor, providing inspiration, guidance, and feedback to foster continuous professional development. Spending significant time in practice with staff, including coaching, planning support, training, and building confidence in the Reggio approach and EYFS delivery, is expected.

Our nurseries are predominantly child-led with emergent curricula, so inspiring your team to think on their feet and respond to children’s interests to extend learning in the moment is crucial.
