About Us
Old Dairy Farm Nursery in Petersfield is an outdoor focused Nursery where children can grow and learn in a safe and stimulating environment. Our nursery is set on a working farm, in beautiful surroundings, nestled at the foot of the South Downs National Park. We feel that it is a very special place, and we are excited to share it with you.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to children's learning, our educators act as mentors and guides, supporting the children to learn about the world around them through their own interests. We endeavour to provide our children freedom to enjoy the benefits of our rural setting, we encourage all ages to spend as much time as possible outside and on walks around the farm.

The Role
We are looking for a passionate, motivated and inspirational Nursery Manager, who has experience in leading a team and a passion for outdoor learning and understanding of child-led education principles. You will be focused on Learning, Teaching & Development.

You will report to the Nursery Director and work closely alongside the Management team to ensure the highest standard of care and education for all children. You will have responsibility for coordinating the Pedagogy across the nursery, creating an inspiring and beautiful environment which serves as a third teacher in children's learning. Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach is preferable, although not essential.

Operational Responsibilities:

  1. Alongside the management team, ensure all operational elements of the nursery are running smoothly and children, parents and staff's needs are being met.
  2. Build and maintain excellent relationships with parents.
  3. Ensure that Nursery Policies and Procedures are maintained, that children, parents and the staff team work together at all times to provide high quality childcare.
  4. Be the settings DSL; monitoring any safeguarding issues following local authority procedures.
  5. Be the settings SEN support.
  6. Ensure that the nursery consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.
  7. Implement systems of observation and record keeping so that children's attainment and progress are effectively and regularly assessed; monitor the effectiveness of assessment procedures on Family and ensure tracking and observations are kept up to date.
  8. Manage own time to complete tasks effectively, prioritising workload and delegating tasks to the senior management team. Monitor and evaluate progress of delegated tasks, providing constructive feedback.
  9. Contribute and participate in the development of new ideas.
  10. Keep up to date on all current childcare issues.
  11. Actively welcome new enquiries and visits from prospective parents.
  12. Manage daily communication with nursery parents, answering queries and offering reassurance when necessary.
  13. Implement and maintain the company's Equality policy ensuring that children, parents and the staff team are valued, and practice is positive and non-discriminatory.

This is a full time role, Monday - Friday 7.15am - 6.30 / 51 weeks of the year. This is not an office-based role, you will be expected to work in rooms to support, develop and train our team, ensuring high quality practice is carried out at all times.

Salary up to GBP35,000
We are committed to Safeguarding our children and staff. We will not employ anyone without relevant references and background checks. You will be required to have a DBS check and provide 3 references.
