Nursery Deputy Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the MiChild group. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Deputy Manager to work at our beautiful Village Nursery, based in Lees, Oldham.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. To liaise with the managers on a daily basis.
  2. 50 percent room-based / 50 percent office-based, supporting the management team as needed.
  3. To work as part of the nursery team.
  4. Drive quality within all rooms and role model outstanding practice daily.
  5. Make decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery in the absence of a Manager.
  6. Follow all nursery administrative procedures.
  7. Be a positive role model to other staff throughout the nursery.
  8. Have a thorough working knowledge of the nursery's policies and procedures.
  9. Assist in training staff within the nursery.
  10. In the absence of a Manager, manage staffing levels and deploy staff where necessary throughout the setting.
  11. Attend meetings as part of the management team.
  12. Be flexible with shifts and staying behind, etc., to ensure all shifts are covered in the event of staff sickness, etc.
  13. Conduct fire checks, read meters, perform risk assessments, and maintain housekeeping standards.
  14. Ensure the nursery consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum of a 'Good' standard.
  15. Monitor safeguarding issues following local authority procedures.
  16. Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and act on any recommendations to ensure a minimum 'Good' grade is awarded.
Requirements
  • Level 3 in Childcare or higher as a minimum.
  • Previous management experience in a nursery environment.
