Job description

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the role of Nursery chef.

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of working as part of a team within a childcare setting. The applicant should have a minimum of one year’s experience of working in a complex and dynamic catering environment.

Among other tasks, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the nursery food budget.
  • Full management of the HACCP policy.
  • Ensure the production of food items for the nursery.
  • Make sure that all stores, drinks and food are requisitioned to meet business needs.
  • Cleaning schedules are adhered to on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all nursery catering planning and activities are entirely consistent with policy directives
  • Lead on nursery catering health and safety requirements
  • Completing monthly stocktaking
  • Ensure that all food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures are maintained
  • Service delivery is consistently achieved in line with agreed nursery requirements and catering standards

The position is based in the kitchen at Waterfront nursery at Edinburgh college Granton. Applicants should hold:

  • SCQF Level 5 in professional cookery or have relevant skills and experience in a complex catering environment
  • REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Allergen Awareness Training
