Job summary

Childbase Partnership Limited seeks a Nursery Cook for Highbury Lodge Day Nursery in Hitchin. The role is a fixed-term contract for 6 months, full-time, 37.5 hours weekly, with shifts 07:30–18:30, and salary pro-rata based on £31,200 per annum or £16.00 per hour.

You will prepare wholesome meals for up to 80 children, manage allergen requirements, and work with the Nursery Manager to ensure hygiene and budget goals are met.

Qualifications

• Professional catering experience and ability to cook a range of foods from a set-menu using fresh ingredients.
• Knowledge of allergens, COSHH, manual handling and environmental health legislation.
• Food Hygiene training and safeguarding awareness to maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare wholesome meals for up to 80 children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
• Follow set-menu, accommodate allergies and dietary needs, and maintain kitchen hygiene.
• Support Kitchen Assistant and manage budget with Nursery Manager.
