Job summary

Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is seeking an Early Years Chef to prepare nutritious, child-friendly meals in a Lewisham nursery setting. You will manage dietary requirements, minimise waste, and support with nursery activities and events.

The role emphasizes food safety, teamwork and engagement with children and parents, with a 40-hour week over five days and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a cooking role, in a domestic or commercial property.
• Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, including allergies.
• Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – passed on day 1 in post.
• Sound knowledge of COSHH.
• Great communication skills with colleagues, children and parents.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present age-appropriate meals for all children with minimum waste.
• Ensure dietary requirements are catered for and communicated to teams and parents.
• Lead cookery club sessions and support with nursery activities, such as BBQs, fetes and staff meetings.
