Job summary

Happitots Day Nursery and Pre-school in Winnersh is seeking an experienced Nursery Chef to join our warm and welcoming team. You will provide fresh, nutritious meals for children under five, maintain high hygiene standards and follow safety procedures.

The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a paid lunch break. We offer a competitive salary based on experience, attendance bonuses up to £500 per year, a childcare discount, wellbeing initiatives and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Provide fresh, nutritious and well-presented meals, including snacks, suitable for children under five, according to nursery menus
• Maintain high hygiene standards and follow infection/cross-contamination control procedures
• Be aware of dietary needs and adapt menus for allergies, intolerances and cultural requirements
• Follow Health and Safety duties (risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR) and update daily records
• Manage dry store stocks and coordinate weekly shopping orders
• Occasionally support other settings and transport meals as needed

Your main role and responsibilities will be to:

• Provide fresh, nutritious and well-presented meals, including snacks, suitable for children and babies, under the age of five, according to the current nursery menus
• Always maintain a high standard of hygiene and to follow infection / cross contamination control procedures
• Have awareness of Special Dietary Needs – referring to food allergies, food intolerances, cultural needs, vegetarian requirements etc
• Be aware of and carry out duties in connection with Health and Safety at work (e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR etc) and to update daily records
• Ensure stocks in the dry store are rotated daily and stock is monitored and maintained through the weekly shopping order
• At times you may be required to support other settings and transportation of the meals
