First Steps Nursery is a purpose-built NHS workplace nursery for staff working for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. A new facility opened onsite at the Conquest Hospital in January 2022, providing full-day care for 56 children aged 4 months to 8 years.
We are seeking to recruit a nursery practitioner to complement our experienced team.
The successful candidate must hold a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Childcare & Education (or equivalent) and have experience working with children under 5 years old.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, be effective communicators, and show flexibility in working hours to support our service's needs.
The role involves assisting the management team in delivering high-quality childcare and education in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment. Responsibilities include planning educational activities, maintaining child-to-staff ratios, and following Ofsted and Trust policies.
You will plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate educational and play programs, providing engaging play opportunities and interacting positively with children.
Other duties include setting up rooms with toys and furniture for accessibility, communicating effectively with children to enhance language and learning, and sharing detailed updates with parents/carers about their child's day.
You will work within the nursery's behaviour management procedures when discipline is required.
