+ As a Nurse Specialist, you will support the Band 7 Paediatric Haemoglobinopathy Nurse Specialist and be responsible for patients with Haemoglobinopathy disorders.

+ Some experience and understanding of Haemoglobinopathy disorders would be desirable but not essential.

**Job Description and Main Responsibilities:**

The Trust defines a nurse specialist as a qualified nurse whose primary role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced knowledge to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals concerning a specific disease or condition.

Within specialist practice, the nurse specialist:

  • Works towards advanced knowledge and skills within their field.
  • Contributes to planning, delivering, and evaluating care pathways for a designated group of patients.
  • Supports the development of nursing practice within the specialist area and contributes to nursing knowledge.
  • Participates in training and education within the specialist area.
