Department: Acute/Med Surg
Employment Type: Full-time (72hrs/week)
Job Summary:
Join our critical access hospital team where you will become a well-rounded nurse by working at the top of your scope. Our nurses are responsible for a variety of skills like IV placement, phlebotomy, code response, and wound care/assessment.
The nurse residency program is designed to support newly graduated RNs and LPNs in their transition to hospital nursing practice. An intensive two-week orientation with nurse educators will include topics such as: interprofessional collaboration, trauma-informed care, opioid and alcohol withdrawal assessment and treatment, ECG interpretation, and wound care. Over the next 10-18 weeks, the nurse resident will be paired with a preceptor to enhance bedside skills and meet with educators for additional clinical skill development.
Following the initial onboarding period, the new graduate will be responsible for collaborating with nurse educators, nurse manager, and other department members to create a practice improvement project. This will help enhance the new graduate's integration into professional practice while creating connections with colleagues.
After one year of employment, opportunities are available to transition into other departments. Growth within the Dartmouth Health system is encouraged and supported.
Note: Upon acceptance into NRP, applicants are guaranteed full-time employment on the acute med/surg or acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. LPN applicants must be matriculated into an RN program.
