Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 7 Surgical Nurse Practitioner or Band 6 with competencies required to progress to a Band 7 following successful completion of approximately 15 months within the Cardiothoracic Surgical team. This team has an excellent reputation for their specialist services, established for 25 years. The team cover two pre- and post-operative surgical wards and a pre-admission clinic on a rotation. The post holder will need to be an excellent communicator and a role model for junior members of the wider team. You will need to balance the clinical and non-clinical aspects of the role; well-developed prioritisation and time management skills are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Clerking, assessing and providing high quality clinical care to patients regionally and nationally whilst working alongside the medical team to make decisions on patient pathways.
  • Contribute to strategic aspects of the role, bring new ideas to the table, support and lead innovative developments within the team and the wider unit to enhance the patient experience.
  • Provide strong visible leadership to the nursing and support teams; undertake clinical and managerial work within the team under the supervision of the Team Lead.
  • Balance clinical and non-clinical responsibilities with well-developed prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Flexible working arrangements may be accommodated where possible to suit service needs and patient care.
