This role involves ensuring eligible birthing individuals receive vaccines during pregnancy and participating in patient care. An opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse or midwife to join a small team of maternity vaccinators. You will work as part of the vaccinators to ensure eligible birthing people are offered vaccinations in pregnancy.
We currently work closely with the inpatient and outpatient maternity services ensuring that services are accessible to service users. As such you will be expected to hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
The post will involve weekend working.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with professional standards and local guidelines
• Report all complaints/incidents immediately to a senior member of staff and document accordingly. Signpost patients to the Patient, Advice and Liaison Service
• Participate in the Trust appraisal process each year, with the first appraisal taking place within the first 6 months from appointment
• Ensure communication channels are used appropriately and effectively to facilitate the flow of information throughout the Division
• Respond to queries or escalate to the clinical supervisor
• Responsible for providing specialist advice and technical services in relation to the care of patients considering and receiving vaccinations
• Handle difficult conversations (sensitive, language barriers, hostile atmosphere) and convert complex technical information into easily to understand communication
• Support more junior staff in the provision of care including training in the use of protocols as needed
• Work as an effective team member, demonstrate good personal communication skills and actively promote excellent team and interdisciplinary relationships
• Demonstrate appropriate assertiveness and ability to challenge others when the rights of patients may be affected
